GIF Animation Tips
1. Master Your Timing
The secret to great GIFs is timing. Most animations look best at 100-200ms per frame. Too fast looks chaotic; too slow looks choppy.
2. Use Easing
Linear movement looks robotic. Add ease-in and ease-out by including transition frames at the start and end of movements.
3. Loop Seamlessly
The best GIFs loop infinitely without a visible jump. Make the last frame transition smoothly back to the first.
4. Limit Your Palette
GIFs support 256 colors. Choose a consistent color palette across all frames to avoid color shifting.
5. Consider File Size
Always check the final file size. If it's over 5MB, reduce dimensions, frame count, or colors. Most platforms have upload limits.
Bonus: Text in GIFs
If adding text, use high-contrast colors and ensure it's readable at small sizes. Sans-serif fonts work best for GIFs.
